I did it online on 3/21/09 and got approved for me and my wife on 3/31/09. 10 days total turn around! I was amazed to see USCIS's efficiency on cases filed online. I heard the opposite that if you file online it was taking long time. Mine was at NSC

Hello all,
I am an Indian national currently in the AOS-pending state. My wife & I are looking to adopt a child either from India/US or a different country. From what I have found out, this seems to be a herculean task. Is this even possible? Has anyone successfully completed this process, or know of the details/steps involved. Any information is appreciated.

When it comes to the community organizing and support activities for the comprehensive immigration reform legislation, there are hundreds of organizations that organize, network, and mobilize the immigrants in support of the issues involving the difficult issues of legalization of illegal aliens. However, the same is not true with the employment-based immigration reform issues. The lobbying and organizing and support of these issues rely heavily on the employers, businesses, and academic institutions such as competeamerica. Without doubt, the employers should be the most effective and powerful groups to pressure the Congress, President, and other players in the political process.
However, it is time that the immigrants themselves also participate in a similar effort to share information, issues, and supporting activities. Obviously, the first move is to organize and build a network throuhout the nation and the world, and along with the networking, other support activities must be conducted and expanded. There are not too many immigrant groups that are focused on the employment-based immigration reform issues. Currently, a website of www.immigrationvoice.org is launching this campaign and attempting to organize and network in the employment-based immigrant communities. This reporter urges the foreign professional workers to visit and join this group to help an activities of side-kick from the standpoint of stakeholder foreign workers in support of the employers and their support groups. Yeah was a real eye opener, this one. Makes u wonder sometimes, whether we are really welcome in this country or not. More importantly, will we ever be REALLY accepted as part of the "American culture". These organizations are open about their "feelings" toward immigrants. There are a Whole lot more people who may not be so open about their thoughts, but still have them nonetheless.

You can change from L-1 to H-1 as long as your H-1 is approved and valid.
No you do not need to get it stamped while in US. Only if you go out of US and come back, you will need stamped H-1.

I am working in US on L1A visa expiring in November 2010 (completing 7 years). The Visa with whom I am working are not processing my GC. Before changing my Visa to L1A, I had H1B which is expired now. So I am applying for PERM through another employer. This employer/attorney is going to file for Labor in one or two months. What are the chances of my Labor and I-140 getting approved before December 2010? If my Labor got approved by December 2010, Can I switch to the employer who has applied for PERM and continue staying in US? Are there any options? Please advice. Thanks for your time.

My employer terminated my employment Last date of employment is May-7th. and he is keen on revoking my H1 by May-10th.
He says, Even after withdrawing H1 you can still able to transfer H1 to other employer.
So far i am not able to find other employer who can transfer my H1, and still in US.
1) How many days I can stay after H1 termination
2) Is it possible to transfer H1 after the withdrawal process initiation.
3) How much time does INS take to withdraw the H1
4) what possibility of rejecting my H1 if I submit my papers for H1 transfer after the revoke process initiation.
Please let me know do I have any other options.

Hello gurus,
I woked with Company A and got my I140 approved(PD sep 04 EB2). I had issue with Company A that they asked me wait to apply my I485 in july 2007 wave. I frustrated and moved to Company B and substitued another labor(PD May-2002 EB3), got theI140 approval and 485 is pending from july 2007. In the Meantime, Company A withdrawn my approved EB2 I140 petition couple of months ago to protect one of their employee I140 petition.
Currently i believe the situvation is not good for EB3 and planned to enable my "Company A" I140 petition to apply for I485. Will USCIS allow company A to enable the withrdrawn I140 petition to apply my I485? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Do we need to follow any process to convert from H1 to EAD? Or just apply for jobs using EAD?
No. No. No. No. Your spouse can do anything with that EAD. Your spouse can do multiple jobs but once your spouse starts using EAD spouse's H-1 gets void.

I am planning to go to Canada for H1B visa stamping. Will there be any problem if i have company on H1B. I opened in 2003 and My friend is working in that company. I am working for my employer only. Will there be any problem if i have company either in GC stage or getting Visa in Canada.

Today, our AP status has changed to "Document mailed to applicant". Does this mean that they have mailed the approval document or is it an RFE document?
For most of the applicants the status has turned to "Approval Notice sent" but mine is different. Is anyone in the same boat.

My in-laws attended visitor visa interview at Hyderabad Consulate on 25th Feb. My mother-in-law (not working) got her visa (no questions asked) but father-in-law (an electrical engg manager, still working for central govt) was asked to fill out a questionnaire related to his professional experience and then given a white slip with a case number/email address and asked to email his resume/CV for further processing. He was told it would take 7 days to process his application.
I tried searching for similar cases on various forums and found some cases but couldn't find information on how long they took to approve the visa. So I was just wondering if anybody here has any further updates on such cases. Appreciate any feedback.

Our AP saga got its final miracle today. (at least I think it�s the final one�) Though my spouse�s and daughter's AP were finally got approved yesterday, the miracle is that TSC has decided to expedite and overnight them, based on a fax from my father-in-law�s doctor.
The very nice lady IO at SF INS office this morning asked for our telephone numbers, and then followed up and called us on our cell phone to confirm that TSC is expediting the APS�..�and overnight-ing them!
Prior to this last miracle the journey was choppy.
We are to leave for India on Dec 26th... ..the APs were e-filed on July 12 to give TSC enough time.
Because nothing seemed to be happening I faxed TSC director (no use), another fax at TSC (not much use), made friends with a TSC rep...(great) got in touch with my Congressman George MIller's office..(fantastic), leading to the approval yesterday and then today comes the icing on the cake� the overnight-ing�.
After a season of dryness, it doesn't just rain, it pours!

Computer would not let officer open SR if your application is well within processing time. So I am not sure, how your SR was opened. Wait for your time to come and your GC would be approved.
